Current Status and What's Next For Malaysian Palm Oil Sustainability

A Forestry Lecture Series (FLS) 2017 is the monthly academic seminar organized by Department of Forest Management, Faculty of Forestry, Universiti Putra Malaysia. A seminar titled ‘100 years of oil palm in Malaysia: Current Status and What’s Next for Malaysian Palm Oil Sustainability’ was held on 28th July 2017 in Meeting Room 1, Faculty of Forestry, Universiti Putra Malaysia. Dr. Sannath presented the chronology of oil palm plantations establishment in Malaysia 100 years ago and how it evolved through the time. The challenges related to certification and introduction to Malaysian Certification Palm Oil was also discussed. Audience are from different background including academician and researchers working on oil palm or palm oil from UPM and UiTM, NGOs, SEARRP, oil palm planters, representative from Forestry Department of Peninsular Malaysia and others were discussing issues and way forward related to oil palm industry in Malaysia.
