The Faculty of Forestry is one of the founding faculties during the formation of UPM, formerly known as Universiti Pertanian Malaysia. As an academic entity, the following functions are central to the faculty: teaching, conducting research, and providing professional services. These activities are in line with UPM’s goals to produce students who are competent, resilient, farsighted, and who display high moral values. Our intent is to deliver quality graduates who can contribute to the success of the nation. To keep up with UPM’s mission and vision, the faculty was determined to implement a quality management system. This came to reality in September 2005, when the faculty received the MS ISO 9001:2000 certification from SIRIM. Our motto is to leap forward – we are committed to transform the Faculty of Forestry into a center of excellence in Tropical Forestry education and research. In our pursuit to establish state-of-the-art professional facilities together with outstanding human resources, the faculty is continuously making efforts at improving our teaching methods, producing high-quality research, and providing necessary relevant expertise. At present, the Faculty of Forestry is offering two academic programs, Bachelor of Forestry Sciences and Bachelor of Wood Science and Technology, along with Masters and Ph.D programs, through the Department of Production and Department of Forest Management. It is my hope that we can interact with internet users. We appreciate feedbacks to help us create a quality working environment, and to meet the nation needs in shaping human capitals in forestry sector, timber industry and eco-tourism.
